ST. LUKE - ECONOMIC MAP MAKING


(Individual work) Research about the IP assigned to you, specifically on the following:

1. Indigenous Peoples Location/Area
2. Abundant Products or resources found in their area
3. Issues or problem confronting the IP sector

Submit all data to aslev05@yahoo.com ( with references)


In your project, you are expected to create an economic map that highlights the a. IP concentration, b. the resources available in the area and c. the issues confronting the area. These information should be labeled in your map. Your work should be placed in a 1/4 illustration board.

Printed labels or handwritten ones are accepted. Pictures or images of the products should be used in showing their resources.
Materials will be checked every meeting starting tomorrow.

Rubric for Grading the Project:
Relevant Legends/Images were used.
Creativity
Teamwork

Standards: All maps must follow traditional mapping conventions by locating Title, Legend with Symbols and Statement of Authenticity, Scale, Compass Direction, Source/s, School Name, Grade and Student Name suitably on the map.

10 The diorama shows considerable attention to construction. The items are neatly trimmed. All items are carefully and securely attached to the backing. There are no stray marks, smudges or glue stains. Nothing is hanging over the edges.

Creativity :
5 Several of the objects used in the diorama reflect an exceptional degree of student creativity in their creation and/or display

Number of Items:
5 The diorama includes 15 or more items, each different.

Time and Effort:
5 Class time was used wisely. Much time and effort went into the planning and design of the diorama. It is clear the student worked at home as well as at school.

Relevance to the assigned IP
25 The student gives a reasonable explanation of how every item in the diorama is related to the assigned IP. For most items, the relationship is clear without explanation.

Activity Constructing a Choropleth Map

Choropleth World Map of GDP Per Capita. Explain that this is a choropleth map that will be used to analyze regional variations in GDP per capita. Tell the students that the range of GDP per capita is $80 to $32,790. That range has been divided into 9 categories which are shown in the legend or key. Each category has a shading pattern associated with it, and each country is shaded according to its category. Ask the students to complete the following statements:
